We were excited to have a  star past clients and current volunteer receive a KiwiBank New Zealander of the Year Award!

Jacqui Tuatara has been a big giver in her community and to DfSA. Earlier this year she was featured in our client stories series on facebook.

Here’s what Kiwi Bank New Zealand of year Awards had to say about this amazing woman.

“A volunteer for Dress for Success Auckland, Jacquilin Tuatara (known as Jacqui) personifies the “can-do attitude”.

That belief stems from her own triumph over adversity.  At 10 years old, she suffered a stroke, which left her with paralysis on the left side of her body.  She was the first child in New Zealand to have grommets inserted into her ears with 100% success and had a skin graft for a perforated ear drum. For two years Jacqui swam, walked and massaged her muscles up to five times a day, seven days a week until she was fully recovered.

Her determination and passion has been seen again in her commitment to Dress for Success Auckland.

Jacqui volunteers her time as a sorter for Dress for Success; sorting through the range of clothing donations the charity receives to ensure that the clients are offered only the best interview-appropriate attire available.   Jacqui has joined Dress for Success’ Professional Women’s Group (PWG) and attends workshops to assist in her self-development.  She has also recently taken on the role as Facilitator of the PWG monthly meetings.

Jacqui is passionate about Dress for Success growing and assisting more and more women each year.”
